Why Sex Therapy?
We live in a society that constantly sends us conflicting messages about sex. As a result, many of us grow up confused and ashamed when it comes to our sexuality, and many of us struggle with how to talk about sex with partners or don't know where to go for resources to improve our sex lives. I strive to help everyone achieve a fulfilling sex life, because I believe that sex is a healthy and normal part of life and relationships. A "fulfilling sex life" will look different for every person and every relationship, because we all have our own preferences for who we have sex with, how we do it, and how often we do it. I strive to help you find YOUR normal!
I completed my degree with a strong focus on sexuality, and am in the process of pursuing certification as a Sex Therapist. I chose to specialize in sex therapy not only because I am passionate about sex positivity, but also because I believe that having an expertise in sexuality is essential to working with relationships.
I work from a sex-positive lens with a variety of issues and topics:
What does Sex Therapy entail?
Sex therapy is just regular ol' talk-therapy, but I often will give you homework assignments for you to complete in between sessions. Depending on what you are seeking help with, there may be some education & resources provided, mindfulness activities, and exploration of the messages that you received about sex growing up. If you are in a relationship and are seeking sex therapy, I strongly encourage partners to come in together, even if you feel that it is just one person's issue. If you are not in a relationship but would like help with a sexual issue, sex therapy is for you, too!
